I actually really like it. You can kind of... dig into it and find stuff that may or may not be there. Which is really cool. I also like the rhythm and just the use of words - it's a lot of fun to say aloud and read, because it moves so well.

Okay, so. Here we go. Feel free to laugh me off the stage.

So, it starts off talking about friendship as you experienced it this last year or two - starting with the "new speeds never reached," which I took to mean the deepness of the friendships you've made and written about in other ways. This is probably way off the mark, but I figured that the "seventh" may have referred to the Chamblee Kunoichi and your transition from my best friend behind them to my best friend period, as the place goes from seventh to first. The "pain in the ball of the foot" could refer to the pain of earlier failed friendships and the accompanying insecurities, with the disapppearance of the foot representing the disappearance of these insecurities as closure is reached and new friendships formed.

It's the last few lines that puzzle me, going by this interpretation - it seems to indicate a return to the beginning of the poem, with the same negative emotions. This makes me think that it could refer to the whole deal with Jordan rather than my earlier interpretation. In either case, the movement from eighteen yards to sixteen yards to zero seems to indicate the passage of time, with zero meaning the present. The red line could mean a stopping place, a place difficult to cross, or an obstacle to overcome; within the context of the Jordan-interpretation, this means the current awkwardness and unwillingness to invest too deeply in the friendship as compared to the earlier "BLISS." In the context of our friendship, this could be indicative of that fact that we haven't talked much lately; perhaps an expression of insecurity or stress regarding the friendship, or the feeling that it has come to something of a standstill.

Or it could be about something completely different.
